Show and Tell: High School Memories

Its Monday again... And you know what that means! I am linking up again with Becky for another super fun little "get to know you" linky all about High School this week!!! So I should probably preface this post/these question with this: I was home schooled from 8th grade until 11th grade and then I talked my parents into letting me go to Public school for my Senior Year. Now, I know what you're thinking... "Wow she looks pretty normal to have been home schooled." and you would be right haha! I liked being homeschool, I was always academically challenge {as in I was always pushing myself to learn more} and I self studied a lot, which really benefited me in college. I think it works for some and can be done right, but I also really  enjoyed my senior year in Public School!
1. Tell us what kind of student you were in high school {popular, nerd, sport obsessed, choir, etc} I was a "normal" nerdy student. I mean I was the kind of student who studied hard and always put in full effort, but I also had a social life, boyfriends, felt that fashion was important, and occasionally got into minor trouble with the rents {nothing major}. When I was home schooled I actually played on a coed soccer team haha and wasn't half bad. And I took pointe, ballet, and tap 3 nights  a week. That was me not super popular but not an outcast either. 
2. Share with us some high school pictures. We know you have them somewhere. Here goes... You Ready for This...

This picture is really great... It was a senior privilege to sit on the wall at foot ball games and every year the girls made shirts. That is me on the right and Ryan looking on to glory in the "Lucky" shirt. ;) good times...

3. Tell us about your school. Private? Public? How many in graduating class? Mascots? School colors? We you got a little bit about that earlier, but I went to a Public school for senior year. We were the Asheboro Blue Comets!! Our colors were White and Royal blue. We had about 240 in our graduating class.

4. Tell us about some of your favorite memories of high school. Or what stands out the most? Any teachers? Specific classes? I liked high school. I mean somedays were hard right? You felt like you didn't belong or you wanted to grow up faster, but I would have to say that what stands out the most for me is all the fun memories that include my husband. We were always told, "only 1% of high school relationships make it through college." and we always told each other we wanted to beat that odd. And WE DID!!! We were in AP English together and still laugh to this day about how Ryan was so much better at it than I was and how he had to nudge me to keep me awake while we read the Canterbury tales out loud haha. Or how he would meet me at my car every afternoon after school to say bye and give me a kiss. 
Home Schooling also had some really fun times a good memories. Like the time I dissected a pig on the kitchen table with my mom for Anatomy and Physiology or the time I Dad and I blew things up in chemistry experiments. Or how mom would tell us to work on something because she had to go be the lunch lady and cook lunch. ;) We still joke about how we at way too much chicken and pasta while we were home schooled.
5. Tell us a piece of advice you would pass on to your children or any child entering high school. I have actually been thinking about this a lot lately. Entering into high school and even at graduation I thought that I had it all figured out. I knew exactly what school I should go to and what I would study, but I quickly learned that I knew nothing and even now I wish I had listened to my mom when she told me that it is respectable to get a degree from a community college in Photography or dental hygiene or ultrasonography. Don't get me wrong I am so thankful for my 4 year degree and wouldn't trade it or my time at NCSU for anything, but at the same time I would tell my children to not listen to what is expected of them but to follow their hearts to find out what will be best for them and their future. I would also tell them to work hard and give their all but enjoy the moments of fun at the same time. High school is a wonderful time despite the way they feel sometimes.

Show and Tell: Baby Talk

Today I am talking all things Baby and linking up with Becky at From Mrs. to Moma. If your are reading this and you are my mom, mother-in-law, father, father-in-law, husband, or even just a usual reader. NO I AM NOT HAVING A BABY! JUST HAVING FUN TALKING ABOUT BABIES!

I want to have one in the not so distant future as in less than 2 years if that answers your looming questions. haha :) so lets get the baby party talk started!!

1. Tell us your favorite baby names?

2. Show me your "dream" nursery {can be your baby's nursery or one that you love}

I love these two nurseries because they can be easily converted into a "grown-up" kids room when they have out grown the crib. They are also decorated very differently but I love each of the approaches!

3. How many children would you like to have? How far apart?

I would be completely happy with anywhere from 2 to 4 kids and I would like to have them about 2 years apart. I know that will keep me busy but it will drag out the empty nest syndrome and I wont have to send them all to college right at the same time at least I will have 2 out by the time the third is head off to college haha ;) 

That is just my plan though and we know how those go. Well we know that they never really go so who knows what will happen.

4. Tell us what you think the importance of parenting is?

Oh gosh I Am not even a parent yet, but I did have on gosh darn good set of parents. I guess the importance is the consistency. Kids need the consistant love, the consistant discipline, the consistant care, the consistant knowledge that dinner will be there. They need to know that they can alway rely on their parents to do the best for them in what ever situation. Even before babys can talk they can pick up on the signs of constant care and love or inconsistant parenting. Parenting is hard because kids are growing up and changing so parenting requires change as well , but that is part of the packaged deal.

5. Show us your favorite newborn photo {can be your children or random}

I am changing the question a little... and showing you how I want to reveal that we are having a baby/the gender. So, mom/dad don't expect a phone call. I am doing something BIG to tell everyone I am having a baby!! :)
