On Godly Friendships

Acquaintances are a dime a dozen, but true, Godly friends are one in a million.
For a season in my life, I had friends, but ever so often I would feel torn down and defeated by them.
I had grown to think that was what was to be expected in friendship.
Oh, was I wrong.

Lately, I have been tremendously bless to have women in my life who build me up, ask about me, care and pray for me, and never seem to encounter a situation of gossip or judgement.
Some may attribute it to maturity, which it may in part be, but I believe that a lot of it has to do with the heart.

Friendships that center on God's love will feel right and inviting.
I guess I am writing this because I struggled for so long with friendships, and I don't want others to do the same.
People are human, they will let you down, but it is not Biblical to feel put down or destroyed by friendships.
Change your situation.
Get involved in a ladies Bible study.
Find friends who value your relationship with Christ more than they value how your friendship can benefit them.

Proverbs 18:24
There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 22:11
Whoever loves a pure heart and gracious speech will have the king as a friend.

  1. True friends really are precious--I've been missing that part of my life recently since we've all been moving around. I still have my old friends, but it isn't the same when you can't be in the same place with them anymore!

  2. I think I read this at the perfect time. I have been interested but nervous to join a local bible study because I felt like I was going to feel dumb, or not "in touch" enough but this gave me just the encouragement I need to do a little more research.

  3. So it is a federal crime to blur out a face,
remove tats and add writing on a photo that may be used for an escort ad? You've got to be kidding. Then there are thousands of guilty parties out there if that is the case.

  6. I've also had a lot of friend disappointment since having kids. My still single friends just don't get it. They don't understand why I don't have time or emphasize that it's hard. Such a strange stage of life and thanks for bringing this up. dating
