My own Personal Rx: All Natural

I decided about 2 weeks ago that I was going to prescribe myself a no preservative, all natural diet and see how that influenced my headaches.

I have read before that preservatives can trigger headaches and so I told myself that I would act as though I was like those who were testing out gluten intolerance, and completely cut out preservatives.

Well, coincidence or not, I have not had one headache or even head pain in two weeks!
~insert hallelujah song~

Trader Joe's has been my life line!

I have been eating various renditions of my green monster smoothie {which you can find here}.
All natural, preservative free chicken
All natural energy bars:

Lara Bars
That's It Bars

I also eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables!
You know they are fresh! I do buy organic: the thinner the skin of the fruit or vegetable the more likely I am to opt for the organic option.

I get nice and full and I really havent changed what I cook in terms of recipes, because I have always been health conscious, but I have changed the ingredients I use in what I cook.

I am very careful about seasonings and flavor packs.
I looked at what was in the some of the seasonings, like the ranch packs, and taco seasonings, and you can't even pronounce some of that stuff!
So I replaced those with an all purpose grinder from Trader Joe's and it is quite flavor full and yummy!

I am convinced that what we put into our bodies has a direct impact on how we feel and I am so thankful that I have found this one way that I can reduce my headaches drastically!
I am not trying to say that eating all natural will cure everything, but I do believe you will find more energy and possibly some relief from migraines or other things.

I have also remembered this verse:
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
~1 Corinthians 6:19-20~

I would love to hear any of your secrets!
I am all about some new recipes or even your favorite energy bar or Trader Joe's product!

  1. I'm so glad that's working for you! My father-in-law has actually suffered from very debilitating migraines for most of his life. He's has tons of tests and things done. He finally figured out that he can't eat preservatives or MSG. If he doesn't eat that stuff, he doesn't get migraines!

    1. I am just so happy to have found something that is working! It was always one of those things you hear about from others but never try and now wish you had a long time ago!

  3. Enjoyed this post! I always have an extra all natural energy bar or snack on hand. And I always pack extra snacks (more than I know I will end up needing) because if I have healthy options to choose from already with me, I'm much less likely to get bored with what I brought and opt for buying a less healthy option while out and about during the day. Best of luck on your new eating plan and alleviating those headaches!

    1. Thanks so much Bethany! You have given me lots of inspiration actually! I love your ideas on your blog and I try lots of them!
I agree about the snacks, I have them with me because I know that the options out there are loaded with all kinds of things I just shouldn't eat.

  4. I've been wanting to try a gluten free diet but it just seems like a lot of work. If I had some one come in my house and just throw out everything with it, I would be fine but the research of what I could and couldn't eat is just something I'm too lazy to do LOL. I've been wanting to try the lara bars!! I've heard a lot of people talking about them. Also the "that's it" sound like they would be good too!

    1. I know exactly what you are saying! My husband's mom and brother both have to avoid gluten in their diets and it is so hard! I would say that if you are just looking to cut out on some of the additives in food maybe try an all natural diet. I would personally be so sad with out an occasional piece of bread haha ;)
I love the larabars and that's it bars because all they have in them are fruit and nuts and they taste sooo good! Way better than some of the other bars that you can barely finish!
Let me know if you try it out!
